I didn’t want to share this story, but I think it may help someone. Recently, God has dealt with me through stop signs. Yes, stop signs. There are times when I am out and about and I don’t notice any stop signs, but then there are times when it seems like everywhere I look I see a stop sign.
Recently, right before Thanksgiving I was on my way to the store to get my food for the Thanksgiving holiday and I was not going to be with family, but I still always cook my dinner anyway. On my way to the store, everywhere I looked I noticed stop signs. And no, I was not driving. I kind of felt like the Lord was telling me not to buy food for the holiday, but I rationalized it away.
Meanwhile, those of you who read my blog regularly know I took in a tenant. Well he did not pay his rent and I had to let him go. Then my childcare income dried up for nearly two weeks (I only have one child right now) and suddenly my income was gone. My electric bill was due and I had electricity on borrowed time.
So I’m on my way to the store, and I brought my groceries (not enough to pay the bill and I have to eat) and by the time I left the house and got home, my lights were off. Yes, no electricity, which meant no refrigerator, which meant, I just brought a bunch of food that would probably spoil. That is why God was telling me to stop. (duh).
Well I had a huge bag of ice in my freezer and I put everything that I could in the freezer and then thankfully, my neighbor let me store the food in her refrigerator. But even in that, I learned a valuable lesson.
When God says STOP he means it. He sees something we don’t see. It didn’t make sense to me, after all it was Thanksgiving and I wanted a dinner just like everyone else and I thought I “surely they won’t cut my power now”, but they did.
So the moral of the story is LISTEN TO GOD especially when He says STOP!
1 Samuel 15:22
Amplified Bible (AMP)
22 Samuel said, Has the Lord as great a delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
