Why this Virus? Part 1

This is not an easy time for the world. Life as we know it is just not the same. I shared in an earlier post that I used to ride in my car and wonder how long we would continue to enjoy life as we knew it. It wasn’t too long after these thoughts hit my mind that this happened. You may wonder why I would have such thoughts. Well mainly because I believe the Bible. And I know our world is full of sin and people are separated from God, and the church of the Lord Jesus Christ is lukewarm and God is not happy about any of it. And it’s His Will that His creation comes to Him. But it starts with those of us who have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

2 Chronicles 7:14 New International Version (NIV)

14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

So you see, it starts with HIS PEOPLE. Just open the Bible and read the story of Noah. God decided to destroy the entire world because of sin. So am I saying that God brought this virus into the world? Absolutely not! But he certainly has allowed it. This virus has come on the earth with a purpose and the purpose is to cause this world to CHANGE and acknowledge Him! And that will ONLY happen when the true church arises. I’m telling you there is a real church and a fake lukewarm church that preaches a user-friendly, fluff gospel that never talks about God’s judgment or requires people to repent, surrender their lives to Him, change and become true disciples and follow Him.

Revelation 3:14-22 Living Bible (TLB)

To the Lukewarm Church
14 “Write this letter to the leader of the church in Laodicea:
“This message is from the one who stands firm,[a] the faithful and true Witness of all that is or was or evermore shall be,* the primeval source of God’s creation:
15 “I know you well—you are neither hot nor cold; I wish you were one or the other! 16 But since you are merely lukewarm, I will spit you out of my mouth!
17 “You say, ‘I am rich, with everything I want; I don’t need a thing!’ And you don’t realize that spiritually you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked.
18 “My advice to you is to buy pure gold from me, gold purified by fire—only then will you truly be rich. And to purchase from me white garments, clean and pure, so you won’t be naked and ashamed, and to get medicine from me to heal your eyes and give you back your sight. 19 I continually discipline and punish everyone I love; so I must punish you unless you turn from your indifference and become enthusiastic about the things of God.
20 “Look! I have been standing at the door, and I am constantly knocking. If anyone hears me calling him and opens the door, I will come in and fellowship with him and he with me. 21 I will let everyone who conquers sit beside me on my throne, just as I took my place with my Father on his throne when I had conquered. 22 Let those who can hear listen to what the Spirit is saying to the churches.”

I keep hearing a lot of Christian saying they feel this virus is going to pass very quickly and we will get back to business as usual. I’m not so sure about that. You may wonder why. The reason is this virus has come with a purpose. God wants CHANGE and until that happens, we may stay right here in it.

The president is itching to get people back to work and I get it. It’s easy for me to talk like this because I keep getting my paycheck and am covered for a certain amount of time. But God is allowing this to get people to look to Him. People need to look past their own abilities and acknowledge Him.

But let me speak to believers. If you think you will continue in a lukewarm walk with God, you are sadly mistaken. And don’t think when I say these things that I am not talking to myself as well. I also need to improve my life in Christ. Less TV, more time in the Word and prayer. More witnessing. More yielded to His will.

But if you think this virus is going to stop just so God’s people can go back to sin, lust, gossiping, lying, watching porn, fornicating, committing adultery, using profanity and watching all manner of debauchery, you are deceived. And if you don’t make changes on your own, you will be forced to.

In part two, I am going to share a Word a Prophet gave years ago about this present day. Our grace period is up. For some of you, either you change or God is going dismantle EVERYTHING you created.

I am so used to sharing warnings with people who don’t believe me, it just never moves me when I am mocked and treated as though I don’t know what I am talking about. Why? Because that is the prophetic walk and I have countless experiences with sharing warnings from the Lord and seeing it happen, even when people didn’t think it would.

A few examples:

  1. My own late brother (who was a Pastor) after his wife divorced him, married his mistress. I warned him, his wife would die and he would have to keep preaching like Ezekiel did. My brother showed the written Word I gave him, to a proven prophet and they determined that it was NOT from God. But 22 years later, during the sweetest time of his marriage, my brother was devastated when his wife died at the young age of 51 and he had to continue to minister just like Ezekiel. (Ezekiel 24)
  2. The Lord gave me a Word for a different Pastor, (my Pastor at that time), telling him to come off the road and focus more on his congregation and take a salary from his church because part of his purpose going out ministering was money. He got fighting mad at me for sharing that world. The SAME DAY I shared the Word, the Pastor had a series of mini-strokes and was out of his pulpit for about four months. The next time I saw him, all he said was “that was a powerful Word you gave me”.
  3. I once gave another female pastor a Word about dismantling her church. If I remember correctly, it was like she was not mature enough to be overseeing a congregation. Well she kind of did receive the Word but still continued to lead the church until she brought a “pyramid scheme” to her church. Once everyone lost their money because of the scheme, the church dismantled and she was forced to move on.
  4. I also gave another Pastoral couple a Word about dismantling the ministry and this I think has to do with the Pastor’s strong lustful spirit. He only had about 3 members, but God did not want him tainting those members. They received the Word at first, but later, rejected it, but the church folded in a short time.

So am I boasting? Of course not. I am just sharing my track record because I am about to share something that is going to be devastating to someone. God often sends warnings before major things are about to happen. So it’s with a heavy heart that I share that I saw the death of a beloved little boy. Someones son. This boy was so special to his father, but it’s like God has to take the boy to get his father’s attention because his father is so rebellious and would not fully submit to God. There are changes that the father needs to make but he refuses. So can this judgment be reversed? I’m not sure. But I had to share this. Someone will read these words and they will know that this is for them. This Word was recently confirmed when a friend of mine asked me point blank if I felt God was going to take this particular man’s child. I was shocked when she asked me because I had never ever shared what I felt God was saying with anyone. I felt sick to my stomach because it was a devastating confirmation and I felt the time was drawing closer. Hearing her question made me have to acknowledge that is what I had in my spirit. Well, that’s enough for now. I know this was a heavy post.

When We See No Reason to Change

largo-transit-center-shelter-with-bus

Last Friday, I was sitting at the bus stop waiting for my bus to go to work and I have noticed that many of the older people who live in my building, congregate at the bus stop to smoke. I think many of them have done it for so long that they don’t even realize that there is a sign that clearly forbids smoking.

Another thing that is so annoying is that few will even ask if the smoke bothers anyone else. So even though I may have been sitting there minding my business and waiting for my bus, I usually end up having to move because someone always starts smoking with no consideration for anyone else.

So, last Friday, someone started smoking and I got up and another man asked me if my bus was coming and I let it be known that I was moving away because of the cigarette smoke. As I stood and waited on the bus, I heard the smoker tell everyone at the bus stop that everyone was trying to get him to stop smoking. But he was adamant that he was not going to stop. He had been smoking since he was 10 years old and he said it was his only vice. I would put his age at between 75-80 years of age, so in his mind there was absolutely no reason for him to stop smoking now.

As I listened to him it was eye-opening. The warnings about cancer and emphysema and all the bad things that could happen to him meant nothing. After smoking for 60 plus years, there was no reason to change. He probably did not care if he died.

The man only walked with a cane and although I know nothing about his health issues he sounded like he did not believe that smoking was a problem. It was enlightening.

But isn’t that like most of us. If we don’t see a problem with our sin we won’t change. We often don’t change unless we see a reason to. And sadly, it often ends up being something negative that forces us to change.

I don’t want to be like that man. As a Christian we should desire to grow in grace and let go of our sins and anything that hinders us from serving and hearing God. It shouldn’t take consequence to sin to make us change. It should simply be the Word of God that motivates us to change.

There are areas in my life that God has been speaking to me about for years. I am starting to put more prayer on those areas because I WANT to change. I am smart enough to know that there will be consequences if I don’t.

The man at the bus stop may not know it, but he may have already shortened his life. Or he may end up spending his last days suffering for years of smoking. I don’t know. But what I do know is that I don’t want to be forced to change. I want to change because it pleases God. No more excuses. It’s time to change.

By the way, the smoker got up from the bus stop and apologized to me. He said he didn’t know that the smoke bothered me. I told him it was okay. I guess it never occurred to him that he was affecting those around him.

Colossians 3:5-14 Amplified Bible (AMP)

5 So put to death and deprive of power the evil longings of your earthly body [with its sensual, self-centered instincts] immorality, impurity, sinful passion, evil desire, and greed, which is [a kind of] idolatry [because it replaces your devotion to God]. 6 Because of these [sinful] things the [divine] wrath of God is coming on the sons of disobedience [those who fail to listen and who routinely and obstinately disregard God’s precepts], 7 and in these [sinful things] you also once walked, when you were habitually living in them [without the knowledge of Christ]. 8 But now rid yourselves [completely] of all these things: anger, rage, malice, slander, and obscene (abusive, filthy, vulgar) language from your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, for you have stripped off the old self with its evil practices, 10 and have put on the new [spiritual] self who is being continually renewed in true knowledge in the image of Him who created the new self— 11 a renewal in which there is no [distinction between] Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, [nor between nations whether] [b]barbarian or [c]Scythian, [nor in status whether] slave or free, but Christ is all, and in all [so believers are equal in Christ, without distinction].
12 So, as God’s own chosen people, who are holy [set apart, sanctified for His purpose] and well-beloved [by God Himself], put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience [which has the power to endure whatever injustice or unpleasantness comes, with good temper]; 13 bearing graciously with one another, and willingly forgiving each other if one has a cause for complaint against another; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so should you forgive. 14 Beyond all these things put on and wrap yourselves in [unselfish] love, which is the perfect bond of unity [for everything is bound together in agreement when each one seeks the best for others].

40 Days to Deliverance

The-Temptation-Of-JesusLet’s face it. We live in a wicked world. What people have access to today, would have been hard to comprehend 50 years ago.

I don’t mean to be gross or offend anyone, but I recently read a story about robots that are now available for sex for men. Kind of hard to comprehend this kind of thing. But this is the world we live in.

I recently blogged about a movie called the Wolfe of Wall Street that was pornography with an R rating. Even sinners were offended by this movie. But the other day I was standing at Red Box trying to decide what I wanted to rent, and I saw the movie for rent and realize ratings mean nothing. If a child wanted to see the movie they could easily rent it or buy it.

Pornography is available on your smart phone. Drugs are available on the corner. You can buy alcohol in most groceries stores, so there is no way to stop it. Sin is all around us.

So what is a Christian to do when they find themselves bound by sin? First, we must run to the cross, not just for mercy, but for deliverance. And once we ask for deliverance we must be willing to do what God is saying to get and keep our deliverance. And that is the hard part.Truth be told, most of us want an easy way out, but here is the real truth. There is no easy way out.

So let me talk about me. I’ve struggled with food and weight the majority of my life. But overeating and being overweight has the ability to kill me (and you too, if this is your issue). I am dealing with an illness that is a direct result of carrying too much weight around.

I seemed to be overcoming this area in my life for a while. I went on a low-carb diet, which was necessary because of some health issues. Before I knew it, I was down 60 pds! I remember going to the doctor and getting on the scale and learning I had dropped 25 pds effortlessly. But then I started celebrating and you guessed it. I gained most of it back. So now I have to start over again but the good thing is I know I can do it. The bad thing is it seems hard than before.  I love to eat (food is a source of comfort) and I keep procrastinating in disciplining myself. It’s a dangerous thing. I feel the toll this is taking on my body.

So I sought the Lord and he gave me a solution, which I believe is a solution for many, even though it  may seem impossible to do. God told me that I must fast for 40 days. Yeah I know you cringed just like I did. But I know I can do it because I’ve fasted for 21 days and I’m not talking no food either. I’ve talking a Daniel-fast (fruits and vegetables) It’s not like I can’t eat. Pray for me!

The number 40 is about deliverance and resisting temptation. Remember how Jesus was tempted for 40 days while fasting and praying. The Lord revealed to me that a 40 day fast is the fast that breaks bondage over people’s lives. It will break the yoke of bondage. But guess what? You have to DO IT!. It’s not easy. I can’t tell you how many times I have attempted this fast and failed. But I am still trying. I am in preparation mode now. Pray for me.

You may wonder how I know about this fast when I haven’t done it. Well I have lived a fasted life for years, so I know the power of prayer and fasting. But also, two of my brothers have done 40-day fasts more than once and one of my brothers was completely delivered from pornography as a result of doing so.

So do you really want to be free from sin? Do a 40-day fast! But guess what? You have to DO IT! And so do I!!

Read Matthew 4:1-11

1 Corinthians 10:13

New International Version (NIV)

13 No temptation[a] has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted[b] beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted,[c] he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

Let’s Talk About My Issues

explosed link on a chainI think I have shared enough about this other stuff. God spoke to me last night about three different things. I stayed up all night and it was worth it.

First the Lord spoke to me about the financial increase that he promised me. God told me that my harvest (yes, I worked for it) would come “out-of-wedlock”. Meaning I would not get money by way of my mate. I would come to the marriage with wealth of my own. I can’t detail it, but something supernatural happened and that is all I will say. In the past,  I have shared some things with a couple of people and have learned this promise if for ME.

Then the last thing the Lord showed me was that I was harboring unforgiveness. I had been praying about why I was eating so much and gaining back the weight that I lost and I realize that the issue is deeper than food, so when I asked God about it, he told me that there was someone I had not forgiven. But early this morning at 7 am I had on Christian TV and the minister kept saying that God was going to speak and answer a question and what did the man talk about? Forgiveness!

I realize that I have been harboring something for a very long time and it’s time for me to forgive this man because he probably doesn’t even know to this day what he has done. But that’s it. I’m letting it go once and for all.

Now it’s going to take some fasting, but I am ready for this bondage to break over my life!

Matthew 6:14-15

New International Version (NIV)

14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Do the Work!

under constructionThe other day I had the TV on OWN (the Oprah Winfrey Network) and Iyanla Vanzant’s program “Fix My Life” was on and I noticed the intro of the show where she talks about attaining it all, then losing it all, then recovering it all again. She make a statement about “doing the work” necessary to recover it all again.

What made me think about “doing the work” was a post by author Susan Gregory talking about the Daniel Fast (see next post) and how while on the Daniel Fast you have to deal with the issues God brings up while fasting and I thought for Christians that is how we “do the work”.

Most of us have a myriad of issues and we just won’t do the work. We deal with externals when God is really trying to get us to look within and “do the work” and get it together once and for all.

I have much work to do internally and so do a lot of you. And for many of us, that is the reason it’s taking us so long to receive some of what God has for us.

And if you name the name of Jesus, doing the work means spending time with God, fasting, praying and allowing Him to do that deep cleansing within.

I had to come to some conclusions recently. God is showing me that some things are being withheld in my life and in order for me to receive them, I have to change.

This year, I am spending less time online because time is late and there is no more time to waste. Time to do the work!

Transformation

transformationIt’s amazing that we are already 13 days into the new year! How is your new year so far?  I have to admit, that it’s been a battle for me. Even before the year was out, I realized that I needed to make some changes and this time they had to be lasting changes. God was dealing with me about complete transformation.

Often when we have struggle with the same “issues” (sin, habits, hobbies, etc.) that are not pleasing to God or that are detrimental to our spiritual growth, we think that we cannot change for good. But we have to believe that it’s possible to make permanent changes.

If you are someone with an addiction, whether you are addicted to food, drugs, pornography etc, there has to come a point where you first, want a permanent change, second, believe you can change and third, make a change.

I am glad I am a Christian because the world will say therapy is the way and even though I do believe that has it’s place, I still believe in deliverance. Deliverance in the sense of the power of God coming down and setting us free from that which binds us.

I have a few things that I am zeroing in on in prayer and I see the difference. But we have to focus prayer and spend time with God in order to get the desired result. You can’t just breathe out a short prayer for deliverance. You have to put in the effort asking God to set you free.

We don’t see or hear too much about deliverance today. What we see a lot of (in the Body of Christ) is people succumbing to sin, getting caught and ending up in a scandal. But before that happens, trust me God tried to get that persons attention.

Recently, it was revealed that Pastor Zachariah Timms, died from a drug over dose from both heroin and cocaine. He had always been candid about his use of drugs in his earlier years and he had a testimony of deliverance, but it seems that he went back to what God had delivered him from.

I remember watching him on Christian TV one day and thinking  that he was on drugs and telling one of my brothers and him discerning the same thing. We will never know all of the details, but this story leads me to my next point, which is that deliverance must be maintained. And your changes might need to be radical. How extreme are you willing to go to maintain your deliverance? Once you go through your deliverance, you have to have safeguards in place to stay delivered. This means a lifestyle change.

I hope you are getting my point. This year is NOT business as usual. God is calling His people to change because if we don’t some of those issues have the ability to take us out of this world prematurely.

Let’s break it down. Gluttony can kill you by bringing on diabetes and high blood pressure. Smoking can bring about lung cancer. Pornography use can lead you into illicit and dangerous situations and we all know what drugs can do!

Examine yourself TODAY. Ask God to help you to be free from any and everything that can cause you to stumble. And don’t wait. Today is your day of salvation (deliverance).

And when you fall, get back up again and envision the day when that bondage you are in will be a thing of the past!

Hebrews 12:1

Living Bible (TLB)

12 Since we have such a huge crowd of men of faith watching us from the grandstands, let us strip off anything that slows us down or holds us back, and especially those sins that wrap themselves so tightly around our feet and trip us up; and let us run with patience the particular race that God has set before us.
