I’m really stirred up in that I am not going to give in to the culture in which we live! As Christians, our standards and views should be different, PERIOD! The Bible is clear that we are to be in this world and not of it. And yes, it’s a slippery slope for some.
Our culture is becoming intolerant of Christian views, but that is where the dividing line is taking place. It’s time to decide who’s side you are on. And when should we make that decision? Well I believe the time is now because I believe it’s going to get more difficult to live in this world as a Christian and if you are compromising now, you won’t survive later.
If you want the world to love you, you may have a problem. The world is not going to love and accept us, even if they pretend they do. Especially when you start standing up for Christ.
A few days ago, I blogged about the foundation of our faith, which for every Christian should be the Bible. If you don’t have the Bible as your foundation, you have no foundation. I am so grateful for my oldest brother (who was once my Pastor) and the great foundation he gave us through the Bible. So many of the people who sat under him, say the same thing. We were taught well and because of this, I am able to immediately recognize the lies that the culture tells us.
This week I heard so many lies through media that I decided I would address some. Yes, in today’s culture they are touted as truth. But according to God’s word, they are not. Let me share a few:
Lie #1 It’s okay for your husband to go to the strip club. I’m sure some of you wives are laughing at this one, but I am not talking about legalism. I am just going to show you why according to scripture this is wrong.
I actually saw a poll where 45% of married women said they expected their husbands to go to strip clubs and DIDN’T have a problem with it.
Well here is a scripture to dispel this lie:
New International Version (NIV)
28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
It’s real simple. When a married man goes to a strip club, he will be lusting after the women and committing adultery in his heart. Oh and that goes for the single men too. lol
Lie # 2 It’s okay to live together before marriage. I saw a so-called minister say he was tired of Bishops preaching what was not in the Bible. Well, here is the truth. When you live together, you are not going to be room mates. People live together as though they are married. The issue is really fornication. But just in case you have a rare few who claim they are not going to have sex, here is a scripture to clear up living together without marriage:
1 Thessalonians 5:22
King James Version (KJV)
22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
When you live together, even if you claim you are not sleeping together, people will assume you are. So you need not do anything that gives the APPEARANCE of evil (sin).
Lie # 3 People were born homosexual. This is a big controversial one. I was watching two men on TV, dressed like women (make up, women’s high heels and purses) give out fashion advice (and yes they said they were homosexual). I know Lady Ga Ga wrote a song called “Born this way”, but that is simply not the truth according to the scripture. It’s really simple. Why would God prohibit something if you were born that way?
Homosexuality is a learned behavior and I believe much of it stems from abuse. I’m sure if you started researching it, you would find some sort of abuse early on. So you have a boy, who has never had sex, and he is touched by men FIRST. Well that would confuse anyone. So he may be attracted to girls, but struggle with same-sex attractions simply because someone introduced him to it because of molestation.
Let’s talk scripture:
GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)
24 For this reason God allowed their lusts to control them. As a result, they dishonor their bodies by sexual perversion with each other. 25 These people have exchanged God’s truth for a lie. So they have become ungodly and serve what is created rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen!
26 For this reason God allowed their shameful passions to control them. Their women have exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 Likewise, their men have given up natural sexual relations with women and burn with lust for each other. Men commit indecent acts with men, so they experience among themselves the punishment they deserve for their perversion.
People are not born homosexual. It’s a learned behavior that comes from out of control lust. That is why it’s increasing. The Bible is clear that people get burnt out with that which is natural and turn to the unnatural. And I don’t care what the culture says.
I recently read about Ellen Degeneres (a vocal lesbian talk show host) and how when she was growing up she dated men. Her mom describes her as a normal teenage girl very much into boys. But that all changed after she was molested by her father. So not only can a spirit of homosexuality be transferred to someone by same-sex abuse, but it can also cause someone to turn AGAINST the gender that abused them. So Ellen turned from men to women.
I know this is a hot bed issue, but as believers, we must know what we believe, I don’t care what the world says. It’s all about taking a stand and not succumbing to the culture.
