God’s will in a fallen world


It’s easy to lose perspective in this world and to even struggle to understand how God relates to all the evil and suffering. Here I offer perspective that I need to remind myself of regularly.

When we pray (daily) for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven, we acknowledge that God’s will is not being done on earth as it is in heaven. But in what sense?

Certainly God is never caught by surprise with anything that happens. God is never looking for a “Plan B” as if He has lost control. We also know that God is deeply grieved by the sin, suffering and death that fills this globe (Genesis 6). Yet God’s moral will is violated every moment.
