Love the Wounded

share-gods-love-550x320I believe that God calls us to love the wounded. Those souls who have been hurt, abused and discarded need to be loved. That is what Jesus would want us to do. But what kind of love is He requiring us to give? I believe it’s the God-kind of love that he wants us to show. But even when God uses people to show love, it’s limited at best. Gods love is far superior to it all.

You may wonder where this is coming from. But it’s coming from so many situations that I see around me and realizing that it’s truly GOD’S love only that has the power to heal and deliver. No matter how much you feel a person loves you, be it Agape, Philos or Eros, the bottom line is no one is going to love us like God will.

Here is an example. I was chatting with an online acquaintance and I asked her point-blank if she was really in love with this man who she met online and has never met and she was adamant that she was not in love with him because she didn’t really know him. Well, I knew it all along, but it was good to hear the truth. The sad part is she doesn’t realize that I know she had been proclaiming her love for this man constantly. Sad how people lie.

You see, even if someone is called to show God’s love to someone, it often becomes distorted when they mix their own wants and desires with it. I knew it was not real love because for one, she doesn’t really know the man and secondly because I always felt she got ministry mixed up with wanting to be with the man. But the main observation that I have made is that she had discovered the keys to use on a wounded soul. Some people are much more susceptible to certain things because they are wounded and open to more than the average person.

So what if you are a wounded and you are looking for love? I recommend Jesus first! I know it sounds cliché, but it’s the truth. The arm of flesh will not only fail you, but FOOL you. But the love of God will heal you so that you can go on and have a healthy love in your life.

John 3:16

New International Version (NIV)

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
