Coveting

covetI don’t know who is reading my blog, but God has a purpose for me continuing to post, so I will be obedient. I have to say this is good stuff! No, I’m not boasting about my posts. I am boasting about what God is doing and how He is speaking and this wonderful prophet walk!

So recently a friend had a dream about me and I guess God is giving the dreams to someone else so they will have more impact or so I will pay attention. It just seems that when someone else has the dream, God is really underlining something and saying “pay attention”.

So this friend of mine, had a dream about someone coveting something that belonged to me and honestly, up until this point I had never been possessive about this particular promise, but through this dream, I believe God was reminding me that this thing belongs to me! So in the dream, this woman started coveting something that didn’t belong to her and she ended up in a lot of trouble because of this. Of course in the end she did not get what she was coveting.

When I thought about the dream, I was concerned because what if this person really wrongly believes some belongs to then that doesn’t? Well,  the Lord told me it is our responsibility to seek Him to find out if something is RIGHTFULLY OURS! Now that is deep!! So if you chase after something or someone who doesn’t belong to you and end up in trouble, it’s on you and not God!!

So what does it mean to covet? I love going to the dictionary because sometimes it gives you more insight on even the most common words. So here is what dictionary.com say that covet means:

cov·et

[kuhv-it]  Show IPA

verb (used with object)

1. to desire wrongfully, inordinately, or without due regard for the rights of others: to covet another’s property.

2. to wish for, especially eagerly: He won the prize they all coveted.

verb (used without object)

3. to have an inordinate or wrongful desire.

As I read this definition, I realize when you covet something or someone, it also speaks of being lack of respect for others. You see when someone really wants something inordinately, sometimes they will do whatever it takes, good and bad to get what they want and that can be dangerous.

It’s wonderful to see a situation from God’s prospective. You may not have that person, place or thing in your possession yet, but if God says it’s yours, IT’S YOURS and he will do whatever to stop someone from taking what rightfully belongs to you. That is God’s perspective, not mine. My attitude was to wear the situation loosely and I still will. But the difference is, God has underlined the fact that this promise belongs to me.

If you have question as to what is rightfully yours, make sure you seek God. Don’t waste you time coveting. It is just a time waster and even if you get what you are coveting, you probably won’t be able to keep it.

Exodus 20:17

Amplified Bible (AMP)

17 You shall not covet your neighbor’s house, your neighbor’s wife, or his manservant, or his maidservant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s.
