Humbled

This is what Mary the mother of Jesus said, when she visited her cousin Elizabeth and God confirmed that she was carrying the savior. Sometimes when God confirms our future, we are just humbled!

Luke 1:46-56

New International Version (NIV)

Mary’s Songnativity story 2

46 And Mary said:

“My soul glorifies the Lord
47     and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
48 for he has been mindful
of the humble state of his servant.
From now on all generations will call me blessed,
49     for the Mighty One has done great things for me—
holy is his name.
50 His mercy extends to those who fear him,
from generation to generation.
51 He has performed mighty deeds with his arm;
he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.
52 He has brought down rulers from their thrones
but has lifted up the humble.
53 He has filled the hungry with good things
but has sent the rich away empty.
54 He has helped his servant Israel,
remembering to be merciful
55 to Abraham and his descendants forever,
just as he promised our ancestors.”

56 Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months and then returned home.

It Pays to Give

HarvestTimeI just posted about remembering some gifts that I had sown and God is so good, because today, I received an unexpected check, which was so needed.

Giving is never in vain and I am not one to give to receive. I know I will receive a harvest, but I give because I enjoy blessing people. But the Lord had a surprise for me and I guess he had me remember helping that single mother, so that I would understand why I received that harvest. God is good!

Acts 20:35

New International Version (NIV)

35 In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”
