I’m sure that title got your attention. That was the name of the sermon that one of our former Pastors preached this past Sunday. He shared about the time that David pretended to be crazy to get out of trouble. If you are not familiar with that story, it’s very interesting.
I enjoyed how this minister shared the story because I have heard ministers justify Davids behavior, when the truth is David was acting crazy because he was fearful and didn’t have the courage to trust God and that is the truth. But I have heard ministers preach about this story as though acting crazy is an option. I know some of you may not agree with me, but it all depends on where your faith is.
But that is not what this post is even about. The minister was talking about Christians in the church who act crazy. Have you ever met any? I have, and honestly I don’t think it’s an act. lol
I have shared on here how I have met a bunch of people online (women). We met through a message board. Most of those relationships graduated to the phone. But this year, I only have one female online acquaintance left. It appeared that “friendship” was going by the way of the “online friendship graveyard” as well. lol But suddenly she popped up again, but I see that nothing has changed. Oh and I’m not concerned about her reading this. She rarely, if ever reads my blog and besides, we have discussed this stuff and no one knows who she is.
Well recently we have interacted a bit and then…a repeat performance of the former madness. All of a sudden she was saying stuff I never said. I was reminding her a dream she shared with me and she turned it around and said “well you said do this. Huh? I said what?? I only reminded you of your dream!” Then I remembered, a strange conversation where she totally misinterpreted and changed what I said and blamed me for things said. Yes, I am going to stop this madness before it starts again. It’s time to disconnect.
I don’t know about you, but 2013 will be different for me. It is already starting off different. I don’t have time for foolish games. Life is too short. It’s time to stop the madness!
1 Samuel 21:10-14
New International Version (NIV)
David at Gath
10 That day David fled from Saul and went to Achish king of Gath. 11 But the servants of Achish said to him, “Isn’t this David, the king of the land? Isn’t he the one they sing about in their dances:
“‘Saul has slain his thousands,
and David his tens of thousands’?”
12 David took these words to heart and was very much afraid of Achish king of Gath. 13 So he pretended to be insane in their presence; and while he was in their hands he acted like a madman, making marks on the doors of the gate and letting saliva run down his beard.
14 Achish said to his servants, “Look at the man! He is insane! Why bring him to me?
