I mentioned that I was taking in a tenant and I did. Originally it was a young couple, but then the girl backed out and it kind of worked out for the best because I really couldn’t allow them to co-habitat without being married.
After the young man decided to move in without her, I didn’t really feel the need to say anything because the Lord worked it out. Then out of the blue, he decides he cannot live without this young lady and I was forced to discuss the issue. Since he professes Christianity, he understood, but was not happy.
Talking with this young man has been an eye-opening experience. Sometimes as Christians we are in our little Christian world and we don’t realize what is going on out there other than when we watch the evening news.
It’s kind of sad how the young people are today. They think nothing of living together, in fact it’s the norm. They jump from one sexual relationship to another and I keep hearing about having children, but no one mentions marriage. It’s been an eye-opening experience.
I had a chance to share my faith and share with him how God has a better life for him, but he needs to live the way that God intended. He understands it, but still wants to do what he wants to do.
Since it’s my home, I make the rules and so for now, it will be just him. They may switch and she may move with me and he may move out. It doesn’t matter. They are good kids, but they won’t be living together under my roof.
New International Version (NIV)
2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
