I Still Believe

When I changed the name of this blog to A Prophetic Walk, it was strategic. This walk is not an easy one. The Lord showed me a vision years ago, that I did not choose. It was sovereign. I could not have picked this for myself in a million years. But God said it, I didn’t.

For years now, it just did not seem to fit. It just seems that what I have seen is just not going to happen. But with time I have begun to understand that God has reserved me for the new, not the old. So there is no way I can connect with the old.

Sometimes we don’t understand why people connect better with others, but it’s because they have spirits that are alike. There is only one problem. If you connect with people who fit in your life now, they may not fit in your life 5 years from now. It’s like an undelivered man selecting a mate in his undelivered state. He may want a model now, but in a few years, he will need a woman of God.

Well back to the vision. God let me know that something could happen and get really close, BEFORE my vision came to pass. No surprises here at all. No, I am not happy about it, but in another sense I am. If God withholds something or somebody from your life now, it’s because they are not ready for you and you are not ready for them.

I had a dream about a door and as soon as I began to move toward that door (which I have done NUMEROUS times in the past) I saw a snake, and I went back home. It’s not that God didn’t want me to go, or that I was not willing. It’s just that darn snake. lol You can’t trust a snake. God is all about protecting his people, especially his handmaids.

No you are not waiting on someone else. God is waiting on you to be fully persuaded of HIS WILL. Once you know and stop vacillating back and forth, He will bless you! STOP BEING IMPATIENT AND WAIT!!

1 Kings 18:21

GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

21 Elijah stood up in front of all the people and asked them, “How long will you try to have it both ways? If theLord is God, follow him; if Baal is God, follow him.” The people didn’t say a word.

1 Kings 18:21

New International Version (NIV)

21 Elijah went before the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.”

But the people said nothing.

The Discipline of Fasting

I just did a three-day fast, and I’m not sharing that to boast. I wanted to share and encourage those who have never fasted to incorporate this discipline in your life.

No, it is not easy to give up food. Everybody I know loves to eat, but there comes a time when out of desperation, we need to seek God at a different level.

If you have never fasted before, and are medically able, start off by giving up a meal. If you eat three square meals a day, giving up one meal is a sacrifice. I recommend the meal you enjoy the most. Some people love a big breakfast, so to give it up would be a sacrifice.  As I mentioned, only fast if you are able.

I would recommend reading a good book on fasting. I will share some resources at the end of this post. It will help you determine the best fast for you. I used to do three-day juice fasts all the time and with time the Lord let me know this was not the best fast for my body. Now the only fast I do is the Daniel fast (Daniel 1).

In Daniel chapter one, Daniel purposed in his heart not to eat the Kings meat and wine and eat only vegetable and drink water. I normally eat vegetables and drink water and it just as much a sacrifice as a liquid diet. In fact, liquids would be easier for me. As you purpose in your heart to fast and pray, God will show you just what to do.

But I wanted to share the result of my fast. After the third day the Lord immediately started speaking. It’s like I got a new understanding on faith, God’s promise and the importance of moving in God’s timing and the reason for the delay. Yes, I received clarity all in one night! I tell you, fasting is a powerful discipline and it will change your life.

Frustrated?? Call a fast!

Matthew 6:16

New International Version (NIV)

16 “When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.
