When God calls us to a ministry, he will equip us and through time and experience we learn more and more about our calling. I know God called me through Jeremiah 1, which is the prophetic call. I’ve studied this ministry for a while and been trained by the very best. I’m not perfect, but seasoned enough to understand what is going on.
This evening God dropped a word in my spirit for someone and they rejected it. I was not moved because I knew it was from God. But the person got all out of character. I also, had been going back in forth about this persons true identity. I knew there was something that was not quite right. But as soon as this word came forth, all hell broke loose. That is called prophetic backlash.
I remember my prophetic mentor shared with us that when you give a word, especially a hard one, get ready for the backlash. It happens often and trust me it’s not easy sometimes. But I understood what was happening.
Funny how people believe they can fool prophetic people. If you are dealing with people with an accurate gift, there really is no fooling them. Often, I will just let the person play the game and go along with it, all along knowing the truth of the situation. I can’t tell you how many time’s I’ve done that. But when God says uncover it, I will.
God will always uncover deception. He abhors it and when you deceive and play with the prophetic, and his prophets. Trust me, there will be a penalty. Do you know there is a scripture where 42 children died for making fun of God’s prophet?
2 Kings 2:23-24
New Living Translation (NLT)
23 Elisha left Jericho and went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, a group of boys from the town began mocking and making fun of him. “Go away, baldy!” they chanted. “Go away, baldy!” 24 Elisha turned around and looked at them, and he cursed them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of them.
