A Lesson Learned

God is amazing! I am in awe of Him and all that the Father does in my life. I love having a relationship with Him, but sometimes we learn lessons that may be a little painful, but nevertheless, we must learn.

I don’t know about you but there are times that I feel that God shows me things in parables. When He gives me direction, sometimes it’s not all that obvious and often my faith is not as strong as it should be in certain areas, so I am slow to act. That happened to me in the last several days and I missed an opportunity that God presented to me. When I realized what happened, I started to feel a little bad and that led me to start feeling condemned.

This morning I was talking it over with my best friend and prayer partner and while talking the Lord told me to read this devotional that I read daily. I mentioned it to my friend, but then I got on a completely different subject. As a good friend would do, she redirected me right back to what I just shared and I immediately pulled the devotional up on the computer and was instantly blessed.

What I’m learning is that even missed opportunities are used by God. They are lessons and teaching tools. When I read the devotional, the feeling of defeat left me instantly because I understood that God had a purpose in me missing the instruction. Lesson learned. But next time, I will not miss out!! This was the last lesson. Next time my testimony will be VICTORY WON!

Here is the devotional:

SMALL STRAWS IN A SOFT WIND by MARSHA BURNS:

Resist the temptation to get into condemnation when things don’t turn out as you expected they would. Those things that you perceive as being mistakes serve to set the boundaries of your spiritual flow. I would have you pay attention to those boundaries and rejoice in receiving course corrections. I am with you to keep you on the narrow path to your destiny, says the Lord.

Proverbs 3:11 My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, nor detest His correction.
