The danger of unrepentant sin

It’s one thing to struggle with sin in your life. There is not a Christian on the planet who has not had to struggle to overcome a battle with sin. Yes it is a battle to live holy, especially in this present world.

I have friends confide in me all the time about areas of struggle as I do with them also. Well if you share a struggle with me I will not abandon you. I will walk with you through the struggle provided that you acknowledge that your actions are sin. Jesus never abandons us, nor should we abandon people when they struggle in sin.

However, when someone says that they are not in sin and justifies it and is unrepentant, sometimes you have to leave them alone because it can become dangerous to you. There is a spirit behind sin and it transfers with the company we keep.

I have learned the importance of breaking fellowship with unrepentant people. In 1 Corinthians 5 the Apostle Paul admonished the church to not sit down and eat with a believer who was in open blantant sin. Sometimes you don’t even know why you feel the need to let someone go, but God knows and if you seek Him He will show you why.

There is a danger in  getting close to someone who refuses to repent. And when God tells you to let go, do that. Sometimes he does this to get the person to acknowledge their sin. And then and only then can restoration of the relationship come.

Romans 1:27-32:

27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Hebrews 12:14:

14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
