This blog is rated R for real

(I wrote this last week but scheduled it to post today. It’s a response to Oprah’s show on Pornography)

Earlier this week I watched the Oprah Winfrey show and was greatly saddened that she decided to do a show on pornography. Sadly she featured a very famous porn star on her show! Even sadder is that many knew who this woman was, me included even though I have never looked at pornography (on purpose). I know that Oprah’s show is supposed to be informative and I guess there is some merit in knowing about this side of life, but more than that what really grieved me was the claim that pornography had gone “mainstream”. The emphasis of the show is that because of the easy access on the internet women are indulging in porn more than ever before. This show was clearly glamourized.

The interesting thing is that I had just watched another show and the emphasis was on the dangers of the sex industry. And that show reminded me of this ex-porn star who has a ministry to those in that industry and helps them to get out of it.

The truth of the matter is, it is what goes on behind the scenes that is what people need to focus on. While people are caught up in a world of fantasy while watching this stuff, the “actors and actresses” are being torn apart spiritually, mentally, emotionally and even physically.

This blog is a clarion call to any person who professes Christ and is addicted to porn (male or female) to let go of the addiction. And even if you’re not a Christian it’s important to know the TRUTH about pornography and porn stars.

Watching pornography is a sin. It destroy marriages and families. It’s not for educational purposes (a Christian once told me that). It’s on-screen fornication and or adultery and it’s detrimental to your spirit and your relationship with God.

I’ve enclosed a link to Shelley Lubbens website. She ministers to those in that industry. Warning though. It gives some slightly graphic descriptions of what goes on in that industry. But after you read it, you may throw out your tapes and block that junk from your computer.
